The Worthy Earth Rangers
Worthy Earth Rangers is a community-led environmental restoration project based in County Down, Northern Ireland, and an extension of Worthy Earth Apparel, a sustainable clothing brand rooted in nature. The initiative was born from insights gained during my MA in Regenerative Design at the University of the Arts London, where I explored how design can actively support ecological restoration and community connection. Worthy Earth Rangers focuses on addressing the problems caused by invasive and overabundant plant species—plants that outcompete native flora and disrupt local wildlife habitats. Instead of removing these species through harmful methods like pesticides or soil disturbance, we turn the problem into a solution. Through hands-on workshops at local rewilding sites, we ethically harvest these plants and use them to create natural dyes. These patches are given as a reward for taking part, making conservation a fun, creative, and educational experience. The project blends environmental action with art, helping people connect more deeply with the land and learn about local biodiversity in a positive, accessible way.
